"Triangle scholarships and loans help some members of the fraternity complete their education."

Scholarships and Loans

Tim Meyers (right) breaks away to catch the Frisbee for the Triangle ultimate Frisbee team. The Frisbee team finished the season with four wins and two losses after a disappointing playoff loss. Triangle competes in many intramural sports, including ultimate Frisbee, volleyball, and slow-pitch softball.

Triangle National Scholarships

Recognizing the expense in attending a university, the Triangle Education Foundation has established a scholarship and loan program for members of the fraternity. These programs are made possible through the generous donations of Triangle alumni.

Each year the Foundation awards over $10,000 in scholarship and fellowship grants. The awards are paid out of the income generated by endowed funds. A minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0 is necessary for consideration.

The Rust Scholarship
Awards $5,500 annually based on a combination of need, grades and participation in campus and Triangle Activities. All other things being equal, preference is given to applicants in the core engineering disciplines or "hard" sciences.

Our own Scott Wiens won the Rust scholarship for the 2008-09 school year! This from Scott: "This scholarship paid for all of my school tuition this year!  It covered all of the dues that I've ever paid for joining Triangle plus so much!"

The Mortin Scholarship
Awards $2,500 annually based on a combination of need, grades and participation in campus and Triangle Activities.

Our own Joel Wheeler won the Morton scholarship for the 2008-09 school year!

The Sevcik Scholarship
Consists of one award of $1,000 annually based on need, preference to an Ohio State student, preference to an Engineering student.

The Kapadia Scholarship
This award may range from $1,500 to $8,000 to an undergraduate or graduate Triangle in good standing, with preference to engineering majors, non-US citizens, members of the Zoroastrian religion, Michigan State student.

The Peter and Barbara Bye Scholarship
Awards $1,500 annually based on a combination of need and grades (Minimum of 2.7/4.0).

The Edward and Isabell Larson Memorial Fellowship for Graduate Study
One award of $1,500 annually, to a Triangle pursuing a master's or doctoral program in engineering.

The Triangle National Loan Program

The Triangle Education Foundation, through the generosity of Alumni brothers and others, is able to make a limited number of loans each year to deserving Active members of Triangle Fraternity to help them complete their education. Currently, $12,000 is available per year; the year begins on July 1.

Procedure, size and repayment of loans

Applicants submit the application forms, a current transcript, and two letters of recommendation. An applicant may borrow up to $3000. No interest is charged, but the borrower is invited to make a contribution of any amount he may choose with or following his last payment to help perpetuate and enlarge the Foundation loan program. Payments commence after graduation or leaving school.

Eligibility

Loan applicants shall: a.) be Active members of Triangle Fraternity who are enrolled in a course of study leading to a degree; b.) shall have completed at least two full academic years of school; c.) shall be within two academic years of graduation, and; d.) shall have maintained, as of time of application, the minimum scholastic average required for graduation in their chosen majors.

Borrower responsibility

Foundation funds available to Triangle members are the result of the donations of many groups and individuals, and represent their willingness to help fellow Triangles. Prompt repayment of loans will enable the Foundation to continue and expand assistance of this kind.

There are more details on these programs available on Triangle's National web site.
